What is low back pain?

Low back pain is a common, painful condition which can lead you to immobility, if not treated with proper care. In most cases, the pain in low back results from an injury like muscle sprains or strain due to sudden movement of the body. Along with these, the problem can cause some diseases as well, like –

  • Arthritis
  • Infection in spine
  • Sciatica
  • Cancer
  • Kidney infections
  • A ruptured and herniated disc

 

What are the symptoms of low back pain?

  • Distress and pain, confined in the lower back to the gluteal (butt cheek) area. This pain can arise in the central part, on one side or both the sides of the lower back, with or without pain transmitting to the bottom, hamstrings, or lower leg.
  • Sharp pain going down in the tight band of the leg. It is known as radicular pain (potentially because of nerve root disturbance).
  • Palpation of the lumbar spine may uncover delicacy with muscle fits.
  • The pain might be irritated by specific movements, for example, twisting, angling back, turning or joined lower back developments.

 

What are the causes of low back pain?

Disk injury: Disk injury is a widespread problem which can lead to low back pain. When your cartilage surrounding the disc puts pressure against your spinal cord, it injures your disk. Disk injury occurs after sudden weight lifting or twisting the back.

 

Sciatica: When your injured disc presses on the sciatic nerve, it develops pain in legs and low back.

 

Strains: If you are a person who is highly active in daily life, you are prone to stretch or tear your muscles and ligaments in the back. It includes pain and stiffness in your lower back as well as muscle spasms.

 

Spinal stenosis: Spinal stenosis happens when the spinal column gets narrow. Generally, it happens due to the decline of the discs between the vertebrae. The symptoms of spinal stenosis are

  • Numbness
  • Weakness
  • Cramping

 

Arthritis: It is a pervasive kind of inflammation of the joints. It also induces pain.

 

Spondylosis: It is a disorder which hampers the standard structure of your spine. The problem is prevalent among older adults. Whereas young people also can suffer from spondylosis due to wrong inactive lifestyle.

 

Who is more suitable to develop low back pain?

Anybody at any age can develop low back pain. However, women and older people are more prone to develop low back pain from others.

 

What are the remedies available in physiotherapy to control your low back pain?

  • Physiotherapy plays a huge role in treating low back pain. The treatments are as follows-
  • Exclusively planned exercise programs, whereby the specialist finishes a clinical history and actual assessment of the patients and conveys an activity program explicitly intended for the individual member.
  • The program is delivered in a managed design (home activities with normal specialist development).
  • The patient is urged to bring a high dosage of activity. The National Guidelines for Physical Activity in Ireland suggest in any event 30 minutes per day of moderate movement on five days every week (or 150 minutes per week).
  • I am adding other treatment techniques and medicines, for example, advising on being active and healthy, along with proper prescription or active treatment.
  • Extending and muscle-reinforcing practices are the best sorts of activities for improving torment and capacity.
